Poems by Georg Feuerstein

Inconspicuous Guest

An inconspicuous guest
stands perfectly still
in the crowded vestibule of consciousness.

Amidst the endless chatter
he remains unnoticed,
but he doesn't mind.

His usefulness begins
when his presence
becomes a persistent rumor.

Buddhas Apple

When the Buddha sat under the bodhi tree,
a different kind of apple dropped,
leading to a more benign discovery
than Newton's.

For Gotama learned to escape the gravity
of mind's ingrained patterns.
