அன்பிலார் எல்லாம் தமக்குரியர் அன்புடையார்
என்பும் உரியர் பிறர்க்கு - 72
A person bereft of love wants to own everything,
whilst a person filled with love does not consider his bone his own!
என்பி லதனை வெயில்போலக் காயுமே
அன்பி லதனை அறம் - 77
Like how the sun dries out boneless creatures,
dharma neutralizes actions without love!
முகநக நட்பது நட்பன்று நெஞ்சத்து
அகநக நட்பது நட்பு - 786
Smiling from ones face is not friendship.
True friendship is indicated by the smile that comes from deep within!
கூத்தாட் டவைக்குழாத் தற்றே பெருஞ்செல்வம்
போக்கும் அருவிளிந் தற்று - 332
Like how the crowd at a play disperses after it is over,
accumulated wealth will also disappear rapidly!
நாளென ஒன்றுபோற் காட்டி உயிரீரும்
வாள துணர்வார்ப் பெறின் - 334
It appears like a day,
but the wise realize it to be a sword that cuts through ones life!
அற்கா இயல்பிற்றுச் செல்வம் அதுபெற்றால்
அற்குப ஆங்கே செயல் - 333
Wealth has a very short life span.
If you possess it, immediately perform good action through it!
பற்றுக பற்றற்றான் பற்றினை அப்பற்றைப்
பற்றுக பற்று விடற்கு - 350
The only desire worthy of having is the
desire to be free from the bondage of desires!
யாதனின் யாதனின் நீங்கியான் நோதல்
அதனின் அதனின் அலன் - 341
Those things which one does not use to derive a sense of self,
will not cause us to suffer!
மழித்தலும் நீட்டலும் வேண்டா உலகம்
பழித்த தொழித்து விடின் - 280
