Last days on earth

Last days on earth - A documentary aired on ABC news sometime ago on the top 7 reasons that scientists think could lead to our extinction or atleast to the destruction of civilization as we know it today. Pretty riveting and informative. Watch it when you find the time.

An interesting line from the documentary by a scientist featured in it - 'Its very ironical to think that we today possess the technology and intellect that could possibly save us from a killer asteroid but we do not seem to possess the same to save us from ourselves.' Truly ironical.

Al gore is also featured in it. He is asked a question that even if US reduces it emissions, unchecked growth in India and China will easily nullify the loss in emissions due to reductions in US. He says that by first reducing its emissions, the US can demonstrate leadership and will have the moral authority to require the rest of the world to reduce its emissions. Interesting comment.

This shows how dependent we are in this poor technology. We are like half human beings and half machines nowadays.

I saw this film just now... All I could feel in the end of this film is ..

1) Nature is just powerful and perfect. We got to know the importance of that.

2) We invented internet, we travelled in space. Perfectly fine. Actually we dont need intellect to curb global warming. We need only contentment with this material search.

3) Also Al Gore has commented that US should lead the way for controlling CO2 emissions which India and China should follow. Well I could only laugh at this point, as India and China was doing well 50 years back, without contributing to Global warming, and now most of the Global emissions happening in India is for some sort of US Multi National Companies. taking some of the blame to ourselves too for trying to emulate westaernization. We can better ask them to stop investing in India/China to prevent global warming.

4) I think we should follow ourselves instead of following whatever US says. But at present I can only wait to see what steps the US takes to curb Global Warming.

5) I would always feel that Indians and chinese form the most ancient civilizations on earth, and have been examples of morality, life, maths, science which US/UK should follow.

6) Also remember India is still the largest democracy.

thanks.
