One who is free from ego, is absolutely free!

I have something to correct in my first post "Where will I go to find peace?" posted on 3/31/07. I had said “But eventually I loose peace when I come across any fellow human beings, or anything that he has built around in this world.” Actually I realized that I did not loose peace because of some one else but myself. This is actually a reflection of my own egos, and not others. Anger, pressure, selfishness etc are inside my self which has left me without peace.

To make oneself perfect, one have to admit and surrender his built-in ego, and then change will be automatic.

Thanks,
Saravanan

I will never ever leave my individuality, but will try not to cloud my judgement with egoistic approach.

If there is no need of anger, pressure, selfishness one would not have been given those. Man does not need gills and a stone does not need sense of touch. If I surrender my built-in ego what will I identify myself with ??? :-)

it is too simplistic to blame evolution for every human characteristic...

I feel that this sense of 'I' is what makes us think that the rest of the world as NOT 'I' and herein starts most of the problems. This strong disconnect that this creates, the strong boundaries that this creates between one and ones surroundings creates helluva lot of problems. Not only that, absence of ego is necessary to enable us to participate in or at least experience the cosmic dance.

Badhri,

Do not limit yourself with the self identity created by Badhrinath. If you think this is what Iam, and this is I, you had actually limited yourself at that point, you cant move from there. It is something like constructing a four wall around yourself and saying 'see .. hurray .. I have conquered everything in this four wall'.

I would like to give an important analogy here. You would be able to see the SUN when the MIST is cleared. Here the MIST is your ego and the SUN is bhadhrinath.

It is a natural process triggered by realization. If you are not able get anything from above, you will understand when the mist starts melting.

Keep pouring in comments. This is what making us encouraging.

Thanks for participation,
Sarvanan Mathialagan.

well my only question is why should i be provided with ego if all i get from using it is not for good. ?

Well as I grow I increase my four walled boundaries.

one more Q sarav : Why is that you sign the comments and posts ? It more looks to me like an email.

hey badhri

haha .. i usually type in a notepad and paste it .. so the habit came like typing an email ..

Actually mastering ones ego is an art Bhadhri. When the ego is controlled then it is like mastering your self.

" .. cloud my judgement with egoistic approach ..". Yeah this is what I was trying to tell.

thanks

Ok... Can someone help me define wat "ego" is?

It was 7 years ago when I had suddenly felt that the use of I was wrong... there is no I in this world.. what I am is actually the world arnd me has given me.. wat my parents gave me... This sounds great if I was this really chamathu (good) kid.. As u expect.. I was no way close to one.. Did all tat I shouldnt.. So can I say, since there is no I, I am not wrong.. its the world tat made me do this... I guess I cant.. The world gave me good and bad.. I chose to adapt some of the bad..

Hmmm... so there is an "I" factor to the word "I"... There is somethin I do.. Does that mean "I" exists??

I once again request you guys to help me define ego..

Very good question. The answer lies very heavily in philosophy. Ill try to answer but I am no expert. I think I have the general direction correct but not the precise meaning.

I think 'ego' or the 'I' is that feeling within us that makes us think that we are the center of the cosmos. All of ones perspectives are colored by this unstated belief in each of us. Any and every thing is thought of or analyzed by everyone with this belief. Its the feeling that gives birth to
1.) Selfishness
I have this.. this is mine and Ill not share it with anyone else.
2.) Greed
I don't have this. I need this and hence Ill get it at all cost.
Anger, hatred etc etc...

Obviously this is not a convincing answer but I think I got the general direction right. Once we accept that viewing the world with one as the center of the cosmos is not the only perspective, we feel a great freedom. We start to see things differently. We start to accept what we think could actually be just our perception and the reality could be different. Its a totally new view of the world and feels very liberating and I guess that is what Sarav alluded to in the post.

Badhri,

We will definitely discuss more about ego, which will be fruitful for us. I need to do more readings and realizations to put in words in this journey towards towards truth.

Accroding to the system I follow Sahag marg, Ego is needed in the material world. My realizations is that, In the search towards truth, ego is not necessary at all.

To explain more simple, if two people fight, its actually their ego is fighting and not their being, the original being knows fighting is not fruitful, but still ego fights.

well ego cant be given up by force again. It melts down when we open our doors to truth, and eventually the decisions you had taken by your ego will take a turn. You will realize this. it will give happiness.

In my case I have been built to program software. The realizations I'm into now, I feel actually my internal self would perfectly suit to something else. So you know im opening up my inside self.

I hope the analogy works out. But there is lot about this ego and Im a novoice to talk abt that at this point. we will read more coloumns and write about that for sure.

Thanks.
